Classifications Definitions
FIRST CLASS MAIL:
All matter wholly or partly in writing or typewriting, all actual
and personal correspondence, all bills and statements of account,
and all matter sealed or otherwise closed against inspection. Examples:
Invoice for service, Credit Union Statement, letter or post card
to Aunt Minnie.
First Class Presort Rates:
Must mail a minimum of 500 qualified pieces.
STANDARD MAIL:
Standard mail (formerly bulk mail) is mail not required
to be mailed as First Class. Examples: Newsletters, Sales Flyers,
Announcement cards. Generally mail sent out in identical form to
multiple addressees. REGULAR AND NON-PROFIT RATES APPLY.
Must mail a minimum of 200 pieces or fifty pounds of qualified mail.
Each piece must weigh under 16 oz.

Non-Profit Standard qualification involves many USPS regulations
